Frequently Asked Questions

Is this safer than the candles I currently light every evening?

Yes. There is no flame, no hot wax, no smoke, and no soot. The strip runs at low voltage (24V) and stays cool to the touch, so it is safe to leave on while you sleep, while kids are in the room, or around pets.

Can my child or pet touch it without getting burned?

The strip surface stays cool even after hours of use, unlike a halogen or incandescent nightlight. There is no glass, no hot bulb, and no exposed element.

Will the timer really turn it off if I forget?

Yes. The built-in timer can be set to automatically turn the strip off after a chosen interval, which is ideal for bedrooms, nurseries, and hallways where you want light only during specific hours.

Can I leave it on all night as a hallway or stair light?

Many customers do exactly that. The 24V low-voltage operation and cool-running LEDs make it safe for overnight use, and the memory function means it will return to your preferred dim level the next night.

Is it safe to use in a child's bedroom?

Yes. There is no flame, no sharp edges, the surface does not get hot, and the low-voltage power supply is safe around children. Many parents use it as a soft nightlight.

What happens if the adhesive fails and the strip falls on the floor?

The strip is low voltage, lightweight, and contains no glass, so a fall does not create a hazard. If you are concerned about long-term hold on textured walls, use the strip on smooth furniture surfaces or add a few small mounting clips.

Does it produce any smell, smoke, or off-gassing?

No. Unlike candles or older LED strips, the COB strip produces no smoke, no scent, and no noticeable off-gassing, so indoor air quality stays clean.

Can I use it on a staircase without it becoming a tripping hazard?

Yes. The strip is mounted on the riser or under the lip of each step, with no loose wiring across the walking surface. The control box and power supply should be mounted off the stairs themselves.

Is 24V low-voltage safer than the 12V strips I see everywhere?

24V is considered very safe for residential use. Both are low voltage, but 24V allows longer runs with less voltage drop, which is why it is preferred for whole-room or whole-staircase installations.

How does this compare to plug-in nightlights for a hallway?

A strip lights the full length of a hallway or stair run with even, continuous light, while a single nightlight only illuminates a small puddle near an outlet. For safety navigation, a strip is meaningfully better.

Is it safer than battery-operated motion lights?

Battery motion lights can dim as batteries die and may not trigger in time. A hardwired strip gives consistent, immediate, full-length illumination the moment it is turned on or triggered.

What is the most common safety concern customers raise before buying?

The most common concern is whether the adhesive is strong enough that the strip will not fall, especially on a ceiling or vertical surface. In practice, the industrial-grade adhesive holds firmly on clean, smooth surfaces, but customers with textured drywall sometimes add a couple of small mounting clips for extra peace of mind.

Will it interfere with my smoke detector or other safety devices?

No. The strip is a low-voltage light source and does not emit heat, RF signals, or particulates that would affect smoke detectors or other safety equipment.

How do I install the strip light step by step?

Unroll the strip and lay it flat for a minute to relax the coil. Wipe the mounting surface with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry. Peel the backing off the adhesive, press the strip firmly into place for 10 to 15 seconds, and avoid disturbing it for 24 hours. Connect the strip to the control box, plug the power supply into the wall, and pair the remote if desired. Most installs take under 10 minutes.

Can I cut the strip to a custom length?

Yes. The strip is cuttable only at the marked cut points, which are clearly indicated along its length. Use sharp scissors, cut only on the marked line, and make sure the power is unplugged. Once cut, the offcut cannot be reconnected to the same strip, but you can use solderless connectors if you want to reuse the cut piece.

Can I splice two pieces together in the middle of a run?

Yes. The COB design supports mid-strip splicing with no visible brightness drop. Use the appropriate solderless connectors for COB strips, matching the polarity, and the light output will remain consistent across the splice.

Does it work with Alexa or Google Assistant?

It is not Wi-Fi enabled out of the box, but it is fully compatible with any standard smart plug. Plug the power supply into a smart plug, link the plug to your Alexa or Google Home app, and you can turn the strip on and off with voice commands and routines.

Do I need to buy anything else to make it work?

No. Everything you need is in the box: the strip, the control box, the power supply, and the remote. The only thing you may want to add is a smart plug for voice control, or corner connectors if you are routing around a mirror or cabinet.

What is included in the box?

The kit includes the COB LED strip in your chosen length (16.4ft or 32.8ft), a 24V power supply, a control box with on-board buttons, a remote control, and a user guide. Corner connectors are sold separately and are recommended for mirror or right-angle installations.

Is the strip safe to leave on for many hours at a time?

Yes. The strip is rated for continuous use, runs cool to the touch, and uses a 24V low-voltage power supply. The built-in timer can also automate shutoff so you do not have to remember to turn it off.

Will the strip work outdoors, such as for a holiday display?

Customers have successfully used the strip outdoors in cold weather for full holiday seasons, including for large Christmas stars. The strip itself is flexible and cold-tolerant, but the power supply and control box should be protected from direct moisture. For permanent outdoor use, we recommend sealing the cut ends and any connection points.

What is the difference between COB LED strips and standard SMD LED strips?

COB (Chip on Board) strips have many small diodes packed directly onto the strip, producing a continuous, dotless line of light. Standard SMD strips have spaced-out individual diodes, which create visible hotspots and dotted shadows. COB strips look more professional, light surfaces more evenly, and tend to have better color consistency, especially across splices and long runs.
