Product Information
Guar Gum is used as Emulsifying, Stablizing and Thickening Agent for Soups, Sauces, Curries, Ice-cream & Pastries. Guar Gum makes curries with consistent thickness. It is used in Salad Dressings and Curries to prevent the separation of Oil with Vinegar or Water and to keep the Spices in a curry blended in a perfect mixture. Guar Gum is also used in cosmetic formulations such as shampoos, soaps, lip balms, skin salves etc. Guar Gum has 8 times thickening ability than corn starch. Guar gum is commercially extracted from the seeds of the Guar plant through a 4-step process that includes: roasting, de-husking, grinding and sieving. The remaining purified, powdery substance is an off-white, flour-like powder with an earthy odor. India exports 90% of Guar Gum all over the world. MB Herbals Guar Gum is processed from Guar Beans grown in Gujarat, India. We are based at Ahmedabad which is the most prominent Guar Gum manufacturing and exporting city in the world. Our Guar Gum is processed in a Gluten Free facility that produces only a single ingredient - Guar Gum Powder. Nothing Else. MB Herbals Gum Powder does not contain any Fillers or added Sugars. Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a good last-minute gift that can ship quickly?

Yes. Because it is a shelf-stable powder with a long shelf life, it ships easily and can be a smart pick-up gift for birthdays, housewarmings, or hostess occasions without timing worries.

Is it safe to gift to someone with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity?

Yes. The powder is processed in a dedicated gluten-free facility, making it a thoughtful and safe gift for anyone avoiding gluten.

Does the 8 oz size feel like a generous, value-pack gift rather than a tiny sample?

Yes. At 8 oz / 227g, it is a generous pack that signals a real, useful gift rather than a sample sachet.

Can I pair it with a homemade recipe card or small jar to make a more personal present?

Absolutely. Many gifters tuck the pouch into a basket alongside a small jar, a wooden spoon, and a handwritten recipe card for a curry, dressing, or lip balm for a personalized touch.

Is this a unique gift that the recipient is unlikely to already own?

Yes. Unlike another kitchen gadget or bottle of wine, a quality guar gum powder is an uncommon pantry upgrade that most home cooks and DIY-ers have not yet tried.

I'm shopping for my mom who loves Indian cooking — is this a fitting gift?

Yes. Sourced and processed in Gujarat, India, it is authentic to Indian cuisine and is perfect for thickening dals, curries, and kadhi in traditional home cooking.

Is this a good housewarming gift for someone setting up a new kitchen?

Yes. It is a multi-purpose thickening and emulsifying staple that helps a new homeowner stock a versatile, gluten-free-friendly pantry from day one.

Would this work as a small Valentine's Day or anniversary gift for a foodie partner?

Yes. Pair the pouch with a nice olive oil and a recipe card for a romantic homemade curry night — a thoughtful, experiential gift for a foodie partner.

Is it appropriate to give to a friend who is into DIY natural beauty?

Yes. It is a staple ingredient for homemade shampoos, soaps, and salves, making it a perfect gift for the natural beauty enthusiast.

Does the packaging look presentable enough to gift as-is, or do I need extra wrapping?

The pouch is clean and simple, so it can be gifted as-is in a gift bag, basket, or wrapped with a ribbon for a polished presentation.

How does this compare to gifting a bottle of corn starch or flour?

It is more exciting, more versatile, and far more potent. Where corn starch is single-use and weak, this 8x-strength powder handles cooking, baking, and DIY beauty, which feels like a more considered gift.

Is it a smarter gift than a generic spice rack or cookbook?

For a cook who already has the basics, yes. It is a focused, high-impact ingredient they may not own yet, which tends to feel more personal than another generic cookbook.

How does this compare to gifting a xanthan gum or specialty baking blend?

Guar gum is often more affordable, more versatile, and gentler in flavor than xanthan, and a single-ingredient powder is a cleaner gift than a multi-component baking blend.

What if the recipient has never used guar gum before — will it feel too 'niche' to gift?

Not at all. The included directions and recipe ideas on the label make it approachable, and most recipients enjoy discovering a new pantry staple.

I'm worried they will think it's a boring kitchen supply — is there a way to make it feel special?

Pair it with a handwritten recipe, a small jar of spice, or a ribbon, and it instantly becomes a curated, thoughtful gift rather than a plain supply.

Can I include it in a DIY beauty gift basket for the holidays?

Yes. It pairs beautifully with carrier oils, butters, and essential oils to create a complete natural-formulation gift set for the holidays.

How do I use guar gum powder to thicken a soup or sauce?

Whisk a small amount — typically about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per cup of liquid — into cold water to make a slurry, then stir it into your hot soup or sauce and simmer briefly until it thickens.

How much guar gum should I use to replace corn starch in a recipe?

Use roughly 1 part guar gum to 8 parts corn starch. In practice, start with 1/8 the amount of corn starch called for and adjust upward if you want a thicker result.

How do I use it in homemade salad dressing to keep oil and vinegar from separating?

Whisk a tiny pinch — about 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon per cup of dressing — directly into the vinegar or water phase before combining with oil, and shake or blend well for a stable emulsion.

Is this guar gum compatible with both hot and cold recipes?

Yes. It works in hot soups, sauces, and curries, and in cold applications like salad dressings, ice cream bases, and DIY lotions, though a slurry or high-shear mixing helps in cold use.

Will it work with gluten-free flour blends in baking?

Yes. It is commonly added to gluten-free flour blends to improve elasticity, crumb structure, and moisture retention in breads, cakes, and pastries.

What exactly comes in the package when I order it?

You receive a single 8 oz / 227g resealable pouch of pure guar gum powder. No measuring spoons, recipes, or extras are included, so you can use what you already have on hand.

Is guar gum safe to eat daily in normal cooking amounts?

In typical recipe amounts — a teaspoon or two per dish — guar gum has a long history of safe consumption. As with any high-fiber ingredient, very large amounts can cause digestive discomfort, so use it as directed.

How should I store the bag to keep the powder fresh?

Store the resealable pouch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Properly stored, the powder has a long shelf life without losing thickening power.

How is guar gum different from xanthan gum?

Both are plant-derived thickeners, but guar gum is usually more affordable, more neutral in flavor, and slightly easier to hydrate, while xanthan gum can produce a stronger elastic, gummy texture that some find too sticky in bakes.
